Candidates must hold degrees or HNDs in areas including Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, GIS Engineering, and related fields.

Nigerian Army Medical Corps

  • Medical Consultants
  • Medical Doctors
  • Nurses and Nursing Specialists
  • Pharmacists
  • Professionals Allied to Medicine

Additionally, all applicants must present proof of registration with their relevant regulatory councils and possess valid practicing licenses.

Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

Eligible disciplines include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and related engineering fields registered with COREN.

Nigerian Army Education Corps

Applicants must possess degrees in Education-related fields such as Mathematics Education, Computer Science/ICT Education, and Library & Information Science, along with professional registration where applicable.

General Requirements for Nigerian Army DSSC 29

To qualify for the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission DSSC 29, applicants must:

  • Be a Nigerian by birth as defined by the Constitution
  • Be between 20 and 32 years by 30 March 2026
    • However, medical consultants may be up to 40 years
  • Possess at least a First Degree (Second Class Upper) or HND (Upper Credit)
  • Have completed NYSC or possess a valid exemption certificate
  • Be medically, mentally, and physically fit
  • Meet the height requirement of 1.68m (male) and 1.65m (female)
  • Have no criminal record or disciplinary case
  • Not belong to any cult, fraternity, or secret society

In addition, applicants must not have body tattoos or inscriptions and must present original academic certificates.

Character and Documentation Requirements

  • Be recommended by two recognized referees
  • Submit letters of attestation from former institutions
  • Present valid birth certificates and state of origin certificates

Serving military personnel must also present:

  • Valid military ID

  • Evidence of at least 5 years of service

Conditions of Service Under DSSC

Under the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission DSSC 29, officers will:

  • Serve for 15 years, subject to renewal
  • Spend the first 3 years on probation
  • Be commissioned as Lieutenants after training
  • Medical consultants will be commissioned as Majors
