Overview of the Technical Advisor MNCH Role
The Technical Advisor MNCH will serve as a senior subject-matter expert across ACE Group’s maternal, newborn, and child health portfolio. This role combines clinical expertise with public health leadership to guide evidence-based program design and implementation in low- and middle-income settings.
Importantly, the advisor will ensure that MNCH interventions align with WHO, UNICEF, and national guidelines while remaining responsive to community and system-level contexts.
Key Responsibilities of the Technical Advisor MNCH
Technical Leadership and Advisory
- Provide expert guidance on maternal, newborn, and child health interventions
- Support adaptation of MNCH programs to national and global standards
- Serve as a technical authority across ACE Group’s MNCH initiatives
Program Design and Implementation
- Contribute to proposals, concept notes, and technical frameworks
- Support implementation teams to ensure clinical quality and feasibility
- Advise on referral systems, service delivery models, and quality improvement
Research, Monitoring, and Learning
- Provide oversight for MNCH research and evaluation activities
- Support indicator development and data collection tools
- Translate findings into actionable program and policy recommendations
Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building
- Engage governments, donors, health providers, and communities
- Strengthen capacity through training, mentorship, and workshops
- Participate in national or regional technical working groups
Knowledge Translation and Thought Leadership
- Contribute to technical reports, policy briefs, and publications
- Represent ACE Group in forums, meetings, and conferences
- Document best practices and lessons learned
Required Qualifications for the Technical Advisor MNCH
To qualify for this Technical Advisor MNCH role, candidates must have:
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
- Specialization in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or Paediatrics
- Current medical license and specialist certification
- At least 5 years post-specialization experience in MNCH programs
- Strong understanding of MNCH challenges in African or low-resource settings
Preferred Experience and Skills
Candidates with the following will have a strong advantage:
- Experience working with donors, NGOs, governments, or multilaterals
- Familiarity with MERL frameworks and data-driven decision-making
- Experience contributing to national health policies or strategies
