Background of the Solar-Powered Industrial Boreholes EOI
The solar-powered industrial boreholes EOI falls under the project titled “Strengthening Farmers’ Resilience through Climate-Smart Grain Production and Accessing Structured Markets.” This initiative focuses on building infrastructure that supports year-round farming and community resilience.
As part of this effort, Thrive Agric plans to drill and install solar-powered industrial boreholes in six Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Niger State:
- Bosso
- Chanchaga
- Gbako
- Gurara
- Lapai
- Paikoro
By deploying renewable-energy-powered water systems, the project supports sustainable agriculture while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Purpose of the Solar-Powered Industrial Boreholes EOI
The purpose of this solar-powered industrial boreholes EOI is to identify reputable, experienced, and technically capable firms to handle the drilling, equipping, and commissioning of boreholes.
Specifically, the engagement seeks to:
- Improve access to irrigation water
- Provide potable water for farming communities
- Boost agricultural productivity
- Strengthen climate resilience at the community level
Scope of Work for Interested Firms
Firms responding to the solar-powered industrial boreholes EOI will be expected to handle the following tasks:
Technical and Engineering Activities
- Geological assessment and site suitability verification
- Industrial-capacity borehole drilling based on geophysical surveys
Equipment Supply and Installation
- Supply and installation of high-capacity solar-powered submersible pumps
- Integration of solar systems, including panels, controllers, and battery backup (if required)
Infrastructure and Commissioning
- Construction of water storage and distribution infrastructure
- Testing, commissioning, and system handover
- Training of local operators
Support and Maintenance
- Warranty provision
- After-sales service and maintenance plan
Eligibility Requirements
Interested vendors must demonstrate the following:
- Evidence of company registration and legal operation in Nigeria
- Proven experience in industrial borehole drilling and solar water systems
- Completion of at least three similar projects in the last five years
- Availability of skilled technical personnel
- Evidence of financial capacity and bank reference
- Valid tax clearance certificate
- Compliance with environmental and social safeguards
- A clear proposed timeline and work plan
