The Engineering Construction Projects role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced engineers to lead high-value industrial projects in Nigeria. This fixed-term position, based in Port Harcourt with regular work in Lagos, involves managing Engineering, Construction & Projects (ECP) activities from handover to close-out while ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Role Overview – Engineering Construction & Projects (ECP)

As an Engineering Construction Projects leader, you will report to the Brownfield Project Portfolio Manager, ECP Service Dimensions. In this role, you will take full ownership of assigned projects, coordinating closely with Senior Project Managers to ensure successful execution.

Moreover, you will manage project budgets of up to $20 million, oversee contractors, and ensure compliance with HSEQ standards, contractual obligations, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

This role combines technical leadership with strong coordination and compliance oversight. Therefore, the successful candidate must balance engineering rigor with practical project execution.

Project Leadership and Delivery

  • Lead ECP projects from handover through close-out
  • Manage all phases, from basic and FEED engineering to detailed engineering, SIMOPS, and transfer to Field Operations
  • Ensure projects meet approved budgets, schedules, and specifications

Engineering, Construction, and Site Integration

  • Oversee engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, and site integration works
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, C&P, and subcontractors to meet deliverables
  • Ensure industry best practices and company specifications are applied throughout execution

Contractor and Stakeholder Management

  • Execute project contracting strategies in line with internal procedures
  • Lead technical clarifications and contract negotiations with selected contractors
  • Maintain strong relationships with contractors and monitor sub-supplier compliance
  • Organize and lead weekly, monthly, and variation meetings

Health, Safety, Environment, and Compliance

Safety remains a top priority in this Engineering Construction Projects role. As a result, you will ensure strict compliance with the company’s HSE policies at every stage of project execution.

Additionally, you will:

  • Monitor contractor adherence to HSE rules
  • Support regulatory, statutory, and permitting requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready project records

Project Controls, Reporting, and KPIs

To ensure successful delivery, you will actively track and manage project performance.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Prepare and review Project Execution Plans (PEP), schedules, cost estimates, and budgets
  • Monitor progress using standard project control tools and KPIs
  • Identify technical, commercial, or scheduling risks early and develop recovery plans
  • Provide timely internal reports and approval dossiers

Furthermore, you will establish and maintain clear, retrievable project documentation systems.

Work Context and Environment

This role is based in Nigeria, with work locations in Lagos and Port Harcourt, including regular visits to JV and DW sites.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in an engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial facilities project management

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in brownfield or greenfield projects in an international environment
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage complex interfaces
  • High HSE awareness and practical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English
