HENNGE Global Software Engineering Internship in Japan (2026)

The HENNGE Global Internship Program offers aspiring software engineers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Japan’s global tech ecosystem. Hosted at HENNGE’s Shibuya headquarters in Tokyo, this 4–6 week internship is designed for students and recent graduates who want to work on real-world cloud-based applications in an internationally diverse environment.

Through the HENNGE Global Internship Program, participants develop practical engineering skills while collaborating with experienced Cloud Product Development engineers and dedicated mentors. As a result, interns gain both technical growth and global exposure in one of the world’s leading technology hubs.

What Is the HENNGE Global Internship Program (GIP)?

The HENNGE Global Internship Program (GIP) is a short-term, immersive software engineering internship focused on modern application development and cloud technologies. Interns can choose between two pathways: Full Stack Software Engineering or Front-end Software Engineering.

Although the internship is unpaid, HENNGE provides comprehensive subsidies to support participants during their stay in Tokyo. Moreover, outstanding interns may receive full-time employment offers, making this program a strong gateway to a tech career in Japan.

Internship Location, Language, and Schedule

The internship takes place on-site at HENNGE’s Shibuya office in Tokyo. Importantly, the primary working language is English, so Japanese proficiency is not required.

Interns are expected to:

  • Work Monday to Friday
  • Follow office hours from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (JST)
  • Participate for 4–6 weeks, depending on the chosen pathway

Because the entire engineering team works from the same office, interns can communicate directly with mentors and other engineers. Consequently, this setup encourages rapid learning and collaboration.

Engineering Pathways Available

Applicants must choose at least one pathway when applying. However, once enrolled, interns cannot switch pathways midway.

Full Stack Engineering Pathway

This pathway focuses on building end-to-end software solutions using modern tools and cloud platforms.

What you’ll learn:

  • Application development using Python, Go, and/or TypeScript
  • Full stack development principles
  • Cloud computing and distributed systems
  • DevOps fundamentals

Internship Flow:

  • Weeks 1–3: Full Stack Training
  • Week 4: DevOps Training
  • Weeks 5–6 (seasonal): Special Assignment project

Front-end Engineering Pathway

The front-end pathway emphasizes user-focused application development and modern UI frameworks.

What you’ll learn:

  • TypeScript development with React or Vue
  • Front-end architecture and scalability
  • UI/UX-focused application design

Internship Flow:

  • Weeks 1–4: Application Development Training
  • Week 5: DevOps Training
