As a Global Citizenship Education Intern, you will work remotely with an international team and community members spanning over 25 countries, helping to shape the future of global citizenship education through research, digital engagement, and collaborative learning experiences.

About EduSpots and Its Global Education Mission

EduSpots is an innovative UK and Ghanaian registered charity that connects, trains, and equips grassroots voluntary educators—known as Catalysts—to drive community-led change through education. These educators create and manage community-owned education spaces called Spots, which serve as hubs for learning, collaboration, and empowerment.

Since 2016, EduSpots has collaborated with over 400 Catalysts to support more than 50 community-led education spaces. Through this work, the organisation has reached over 10,000 learners annually, ranging from early years to adults. At the heart of this mission is global citizenship education, which empowers communities to shape the futures they want to see.

What the Global Citizenship Education Intern Role Involves

The Global Citizenship Education Intern role is part of EduCitizens, a growing online community of practice focused on exploring citizenship education in its many forms. Citizenship education cuts across subjects such as geography, environmental awareness, gender equity, ethics, philosophy, history, and community action.

Core Responsibilities of the Global Citizenship Education Intern

As a Global Citizenship Education Intern, you will:

  • Liaise with community members and leaders to curate inclusive learning experiences
  • Conduct interviews with members via WhatsApp to highlight their work and insights
  • Organise and coordinate monthly Zoom learning sessions
  • Write articles and social media posts showcasing community learning and discoveries
  • Research and share relevant resources such as articles, TED Talks, and opportunities
  • Propose creative ideas to increase the impact of the global citizenship education community

Through these activities, the Global Citizenship Education Intern plays a vital role in fostering dialogue, collaboration, and shared learning across borders.

Skills and Personal Qualities Required

To succeed as a Global Citizenship Education Intern, candidates should demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in global citizenship education and community-led change
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Confidence using WhatsApp, Zoom, and digital collaboration tools
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and social media
  • The ability to work independently while remaining a strong team player
  • Proactivity, organisation, and responsiveness to feedback

While a degree in education, international development, communications, or a related field is beneficial, passion and commitment are equally important for this role.
