CivicHive CivicTech Fellowship 2026 Open for West African Innovators

The CivicHive CivicTech Fellowship 2026 is now open to early-stage civic innovators across West Africa with tech-enabled ideas that address pressing social challenges. Designed as a 20-week bootcamp and implementation program, the fellowship supports individuals and teams building solutions that strengthen civic participation, accountability, and public service delivery.

As civic technology continues to shape democratic engagement in the region, this fellowship offers innovators the tools, mentorship, and resources needed to turn impactful ideas into sustainable solutions.

About the CivicHive CivicTech Fellowship

The CivicHive CivicTech Fellowship is an incubation programme created to identify, nurture, and support the next generation of civic tech leaders. In a region with one of the world’s fastest-growing youth populations, civic technology has become a powerful driver of social change.

By leveraging both digital and non-digital tools—including radio, SMS, print media, artificial intelligence, and social platforms—the fellowship encourages inclusive innovation that bridges gaps between citizens and government institutions. Consequently, ideas at any stage and scale are welcome, from hyperlocal community initiatives to regional civic platforms.

Why Civic Tech Matters in West Africa

Across West Africa, civic tech innovations are playing a growing role in:

  • Expanding civic space and public participation
  • Strengthening transparency and accountability
  • Improving justice systems and public service delivery
  • Enhancing climate resilience and community engagement

Therefore, the CivicHive CivicTech Fellowship 2026 prioritises ideas with clear public value, long-term sustainability, and measurable social impact. Participants are also expected to demonstrate commitment, resilience, and a compelling vision for civic change.

CivicHive’s Track Record of Impact

Over the past five years, 34 CivicHive Fellows have built impactful civic products addressing social challenges across multiple sectors. Notably, alumni projects such as Gavel, Amplify, and Flemer Project have formed strong partnerships with global organisations.

In addition, other notable fellows—including GenderMobile, PROMAD, PolicyShapers, JusticePadi, and Urban Alert—continue to shape civic engagement and accountability across Nigeria and beyond. As a result, CivicHive has established itself as a trusted pipeline for scalable civic tech solutions.

Expansion from Nigeria to West Africa

Building on insights from the West Africa Civic Tech Landscape Report, the fellowship has expanded beyond Nigeria and is now open to applicants from all West African countries. This regional expansion reflects CivicHive’s commitment to strengthening cross-border collaboration and enabling shared learning within the civic tech ecosystem.

Moreover, fellows will benefit from exposure to regional networks and opportunities that support long-term growth and collaboration.
